Call it Peach Cobbler or Peach Dump Cake...either way it's delicious and my son Jon's favorite

My son Jon first tried this classic Southern dessert on a Boy Scout camp out.  It's been his favorite ever since. You can make it with canned peaches, but since we buy fresh peaches straight from the grower each summer, we make it from scratch.  Here's the recipe I use:

Peach Cobbler

4 cups peeled and sliced peaches

1/3 cup sugar

1/4 cup water

1 box yellow cake mix (I get mine at Aldi)

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, thinly sliced

Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (my fave) for serving

Preheat oven to 350. Combine sliced peaches sugar in a bowl for 20 minutes.  Add water and stir.  Pour peach mixture into greased 9x13 baking pan.  Sprinkle dry cake mix over the peaches.  Arrange butter slices evenly over the cake mix.  Bake 30-40 minutes until the top is golden brown. Remove and cool.  Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
